New Student Orientation at Penn Hillel

The school year got off to a great start with the help of the Hillel New Student Orientation (NSO) Committee. From move-in until the start of classes, the committee worked diligently to provide programs for incoming students to meet, schmooze, and be introduced to Jewish life on campus.

Students played sports games at the first annual Hillel Field Day, got down with their country roots at the Hillel Hoedown, and relaxed the night before classes with a movie and fondue at Chillel at Hillel. In addition to these programs, the committee collaborated with the Hillel Shabbat Committee to put on a "Red and Blue Jew" Shabbat dinner, bringing over 400 incoming students to Hillel. Hillel also kicked off the new school year with both freshman and upperclassmen at the Welcome Back BBQ where students chilled and grilled for hundreds of their hungry peers.

To continue the excitement all throughout September, Hillel took freshman up to a local camp for the Annual Freshman Retreat. Students had the opportunity to spend Shabbat together, form strong connections, and pause from the day-to-day life on campus. Overall, Hillel was right there at the start for the incoming Class of 2012, and definitely made a fine impression...plans are already in the works to welcome the Class of 2013.
