Students’ Stories from Penn Hillel
Penn Hillel is a leader on campus and in the Hillel world, known both for reaching high numbers of students and also for facilitating impactful Jewish experiences. The start of this academic year has again proven Penn Hillel’s ability to inspire a significant number of students to think critically about Judaism.
A cross-sectional glimpse into the start of 2011-12 academic year reveals that 600 freshmen were oriented to Jewish life at Penn through Hillel’s New Student Orientation, 250 students danced throughout campus for Simchat Torah, 110 students became educators and activists during the Durban III conference, and thousands celebrated the High Holidays at one of four prayer service options.
Within these numbers are individual students' anecdotes as they make connections, find inspiration, and grow into mature, Jewish adults.
