Join Social Committee this semester!

Interested in planning Hillel formals, comedy events, Purim paloozas, and more? Then the Social Committee on Hillel's Social Sector is the group for you! Join us as we create programming that brings together Jews from across campus - whether it's a downtown party, a holiday event, or a fundraiser, the Social Committee strives to plan events that combine Jewish life and mainstream social life at Penn.

Send a paragraph about your interest and programming ideas - or just your questions! - to Rebecca Freedman if you are interested in joining our team for the semester!

Jewish Latinos at Penn (JLP) brings together Central American, South American and Mexican Jews and their friends for cultural events. Latin Judaism differs in many respects from contemporary "American" Judaism, from language and community to an embrace of "tradition" irrespective of observance. 28 students attended our first JLP Shabbat dinner last semester, and we have a 50-person mailing list and growing. Join us!

The Cultural Committee is where you go if you love to dip apples in honey, devour your grandmother's matzoh ball soup, and watch Adam Sandler movies till the sun comes up. While exploring the cultural aspects of Jews and Judaism, the Cultural Committee plans on hosting a Kosher Cooking Club, Jewish comedians, Holiday and Israeli-themed events and much more!

For more information, contact Lizzie Sivitz.

The Shabbatones always put on a great show. Having toured London, California, Florida and Boston, they have brought their a capella delight far and wide. With a repertoire of popular Israeli, American and Jewish songs, the Shabbatones' music appeals to a wide group of people. So make sure to keep an eye out for this fantastic group as they rock their vocals all over campus.

Shebrews hopes to unite the women of the Penn Hillel community community through social and spiritual events. We'll host events such as a monthly Rosh Chodesh minyan, speakers and discussion groups on topics such as women's role in Judaism and women's health, a twice-yearly bagel brunch, movie nights and a girls football league. In the past years Shebrews has brought Jennifer Weiner, the Philadelphia author of In Her Shoes, to speak at Hillel.
